Outdoor Classroom Day

Updated: Nov 2, 2020

Get outside and explore the sounds....

  • Collect acorns, seeds, conkers, twigs and put them in a yogurt pot with a removable lid

  • Shake them and talk about the sounds...loud or quiet? Shake them once or go crazy?

  • Take some of your treasures out...how does that change the sound?

  • Listen to each others' shakers....play one at a time....build up by adding on, one at a time...what happens to the sound?

  • Have a 'Hokey Cokey' moment with your new soundmakers...'You put your shaker in, your shaker out, your shaker in and you shake it all about, you do the Hokey Cokey and you turn around, that's what it's all about.....'

  • Sing your 'Ready Steady, Music!' shaker songs...'Come on everybody there's a whole lotta shaking going on' or 'Shake and stop!'

  • If you have fallen leaves about you could sing 'Autumn leaves are falling down' (to the tune of 'London Bridge') 'Scoop them up and twirl around?' or 'Throw them up into the sky' 'Listen to the crunchy leaves' .....go on compose your own!

  • HAVE FUN!
